Any business involved in food production or who has food preparation facilities on-site has an obligation to maintain excellent kitchen hygiene. This includes restaurants, hotels, schools, care homes, cafés, fast food outlets, football grounds, sports clubs, universities and leisure centres – in fact any business that has a kitchen.
All kitchens require deep cleaning, kitchen extract and ductwork cleaning and kitchen equipment cleaning on a regular basis to keep a kitchen safe and hygienic in line with current legislation. Ingot provide a full range of services at cost effective prices and will ensure you meet your legal requirements.
Whilst kitchen deep cleaning could be carried out by existing staff, there are many benefits in hiring a kitchen cleaning contractor such as Ingot services to provide comprehensive cleaning services. It is for example, faster and more cost effective for a specialist cleaner to carry out kitchen deep cleaning. What might take your staff a week to do, can be carried out in one night with no disruption to your business.
We also help you avoid potential health and safety problems caused by staff attempting to clean high up places using ladders, which they are not properly trained for, This is against health and safety law and if there was an accident could result in an expensive claim against your business.
Our specialist equipment provides a much deeper clean, so your kitchen will be left hygienic and sanitary. We also strip and clean equipment to ensure your entire kitchen is cleaned to the highest standards possible. At the end of each job, we provide a hygiene certificate, to prove your kitchen meets the highest levels of cleanliness.
In addition to deep cleaning, there are some aspects of commercial kitchen cleaning which require a specialist contractor. These include cleaning the inside of kitchen grease extractors, air duct cleaning and strip cleaning of ovens and equipment. When providing these services, we clean to a standard required by insurance companies and provide the relevant documentation to prove this. Without this certification you could invalidate your business insurance in the unfortunate event of a serious incident, such as a fire.
It is beneficial to use one company to carry out each of these important cleaning jobs to make sure that all aspects of your kitchen cleaning are completed at the correct intervals and that nothing gets overlooked. Contact us today for a comprehensive kitchen cleaning quote.
This refers to a kitchen's annual or bi-annual clean and it involves cleaning every inch of a customer's kitchen including those hard-to-reach areas such as high shelving and behind equipment. We also strip back equipment, clean it and reassemble it. Our service includes opening, moving and cleaning all aspects of a kitchen including the walls, ceiling, floors, under the cookers, under and behind fridges, the seals of fridges, preparation tables and around the feet of these. We also clean all the equipment which also includes fryers and industrial ovens.
During the cooking process, the grease extract system becomes caked in grease, fat and other flammable materials. Kitchen extract cleaning involves an intensive clean of the grease extract system which includes canopies, fans and ducts. This service is vital to prevent fires and maintain the health of the workforce. Cleaning can be required as much as once every three months for a heavy use kitchen through to annually for a very light use commercial kitchen. Once work is complete, we provide two certificates of cleanliness and a full report with photographs.
Duct cleaning is the intense cleaning of air ducting in a workplace to remove dirt, debris and contaminants. This is essential in all buildings with air conditioning in order to maintain a healthy air quality and ensure the proper functioning of equipment. It is not needed as much as kitchen extract cleaning, but is instead required once every two years to remove the build-up of detritus. If they are not cleaned, dust can clog the filters and stop the equipment working.
This includes a thorough clean of all kitchen equipment such as industrial ovens, grease filters, grilles, preparation tables, canopies, hard top stoves, combination ovens, microwaves, bain marries and steamers. We take the equipment apart by hand and deep clean it before putting it back together again to ensure a thorough job. Kitchen equipment cleans can be on-offs, or take place six monthly or annually.
Below are three case studies of work we have carried out for other businesses.
Coventry City Council is responsible for over 342 schools and social care sites, which include old peoples' homes and community centres, each of which has a commercial kitchen that requires its grease extract system cleaning on a regular basis. The council wanted to make sure that the cleaning of all the extract systems in their jurisdiction was professionally managed and carried out to a consistently high standard regardless of the type of building by one company.
This is why in October 2009 Ingot was awarded the contract for the cleaning, maintenance and testing of the extract systems for all those sites. We won the contract by competitive tender not just on price but based on our professionalism and high quality standards.
Coventry City Council has been very pleased with high quality of work and on the administrative support provided by Ingot. On completion of each job, every site is left in an immaculate condition and all the pre and post pictures and certificates are sent both to the authority's central body and to each individual site.
Ingot was approached by a well-known national restaurant chain to clean all their kitchen extractor fans. They recognized that it was essential for such a prominent chain to maintain a high level of hygiene as well minimizing the risk of kitchen fires. The facilities manager for the chain realised that is was important to find a company that could meet their high standards of cleanliness and ensure that the risk of a fire starting in their extract system was minimized. It was also crucial that any cleaning took place at quiet times and did not disrupt the day-to-day operations.
Ingot along with a number of other cleaning companies, was invited to tender for the work. Unfortunately, many of the competitor solutions proposed were either extremely expensive or meant closing restaurant kitchens. However Ingot was able to show that with careful planning each job could be undertaken with the minimal disruption to business.
Two years into the contract and the facilities' manager is delighted with the standard of work carried out and his insurers are also fully satisfied with the quality of work and the documentation that is provided after each job.
A large printing organisation approached Ingot about the possibility of Ingot cleaning their ventilation ductwork. The printing company had a large air handling system that needed to be cleaned on a regular basis due to the build up of dust produced by the paper and printing machines. The air-handling units draw the dust through ducting to air handling units which filter the dust and vent the air out to atmosphere.
The company appointed Ingot because of the standard required in terms of health and safety. Dry dust in confined areas presents an explosion risk thus all work has to be carried out using spark free methods. The work is undertaken between print runs, a time that causes the least disruption to operations. The operations manager has also been impressed by the professionalism of the reports and certificates that we provide promptly following the completion of a job.
